Iran’s History In Fashion
Some people would associate the fashion in Iran to be very plain and the women would have to be covered with a chador which is a black cloth over their face at all times. This is completely untrue as the fashion world in Iranian times have changed. Most Iranian men and women take great pride in how they dress and appear to be very stylish in this day and age. While their clothing is loose fitting and still do cover most parts of their body the fashion is far from drab. They wear bright colors and some Iranian women will wear jeans with loose fitting tops and even have makeup and nails done. Some women will wear a loose fitting scarf over their hair and head region which is also worn over a loose fitting long coat. However the dress code for men is a bit stricter. The dress code rule simply prohibits Iranian men to wear shorts or trousers and short sleeved shirts. This is not always followed as men don’t wear trousers but will don short sleeved shirts or t-shirts. Even if a women is just touring Iran whether she is Iranian or not it is still required that the woman wear loose fitting garments and cover her hair appropriately with consideration to cover their legs up to the knee. Men that are touring should also adhere to the dress code and never wear shorts or t-shirts.
The traditional Bakhtiari dress that most women wear in Iran consists of many colorful layers and also has apron like material which is thinner and brighter. For women who are getting married in Iran the fashion of the wedding dress is much like American wedding dresses but most women in Iran wear longer train wedding dresses and have longer veils. There are quite a few Iranian fashion designers which combine the older style tradition Iranian dress and also newer modern fashion with brighter colors. Most of the Iranian fashion shows feature every day type dress which consists of the traditional scarves with longer clothing and then dressier clothing for attending parties. The party wear usually has brighter colors and more extravagant styles. There are also brighter colored head pieces which women wear. The fashion for Iran has grown tremendously and continues to grow for years to come and still sticks to the traditional type wear from the Iranian history of fashion.
